Dr. Burchman Awarded the
Title of Master of the Academy of Laser Dentistry

15th Annual Laser Symposium
Dr. Mel Burchman of Langhorne, Pennsylvania
was the fisrt of only 21 practitioners in the world to be awarded
the newest title of Master of Laser Dentistry from the
Academy. This award is in recognition of the highest level of
laser education, experience and practicing.
As lasers have become a well accepted
part of routine dental care, new procedures are being established.
Clinical protocols are presented for discussion and refginement
at this prestigious meeting long before they are recommended
to dentists around the world. Members from around the world shared
their clinical and research findings with more than 350 attendees.
The 15th annual meeting was held April 9-12, 2008 in San Diego,
California.

Dr. Burchman Awarded the
Title of Mentor and Examiner
10th Annual Laser Symposium
Dr. Mel Burchman of Langhorne, Pennsylvania
was among the more than 375 leading international clinicians
and researchers who attended the 10th Annual Conference and Exhibition
of The Academy of Laser Dentistry, March 5-8, 2003 at the Hilton
Sandestin, in Destin, Florida. Dr. Burchman was appointed
the title of Mentor and Examiner by The Academy for Laser Dentistry
(ALD) while attending this conference.
This international group of leading
clinicians, academicians and researchers met to exchange ideas,
learn about recent US FDA approved applications and to advance
their knowledge of lasers in dentistry. Clinical application
discussion was devoted to Laser Soft Tissue Surgical Applications
on Thursday; on Friday Diagnosis, Restorative Dentistry, and
Endodontics; and on Saturday Periodontal Surgery and Therapy.
Participation courses on Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy;
Soft Tissue Surgery and Lasers; Digital Camera Use for Soft Tissue
Screening and Lab Communication; and Laser Certification Processes
presented many opportunities - for experienced laser practitioners
and those with new interest - to learn about and share in their
evolving endeavors to deliver the finest dental care available
to patients.
The Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD)
is one of the largest international organizations devoted to
laser dentistry and includes clinicians, academicians, and researchers
in all laser wavelengths. The Academy is devoted to clinical
education, research, and the development of standards and guidelines
for the safe and ethical use of dental laser technology. ALD
was founded in 1993, with the merging of the International Academy
of Laser Dentistry, the North American Academy of Laser Dentistry,
and the American Academy of Laser Dentistry.

Dr.
Burchman receives "The Science Behind the Clinic of Laser
Dentistry" award from the Israli Chapter of
The Academy of Laser Dentistry.
October 29 - November 1, 2003
While attending the 2003 Academy of
Laser Dentistry Conference in Israel Dr. Burchman was presented
"The Science Behind the Clinic of Laser Dentistry"
award, for his presentation of his case study on lasers and their
use in a medically compromised patient. This presentation was
so well received, that copies of his presentation have been requested
by other doctors in Israel to present at their hospitals.
The conference featured the academy's
laser certification program, which includes a full day standard
proficiency course and the opportunity to participate in an exceptional
and in depth clinical and scientific program.
The Academy of Laser Dentistry is an
international professional membership association of dental practitioners
and supporting organizations dedicated to improving the health
and well being of patients through the proper use of laser technology.

Conference, Notes Advances in Dental Care La Jolla, California,
USA March 16, 2002 Dr. Mel Burchman of Levittown
was among the more than 200 leading international clinicians
and researchers who discussed the expanding role of lasers in
providing advanced dental care during the Academy of Laser Dentistry's
Ninth Annual Conference and Exhibition held March 12-16 in La
Jolla, California. This educational conference presented clinical
and experimental applications of dental lasers involving the
diagnosis and treatment of dental decay, treatment of periodontal
disease, soft tissue management, intraoral soft tissue surgery,
and pediatric, geriatric, and esthetic dentistry.

"Advanced Proficiency Certification" from The Academy
of Laser Dentistry!
8th Annual Laser Symposium
March 21-24, 2001
Tucson, Arizona
The Academy of Laser Dentistry certification
committee administered Standard and Advanced exams at the Eighth
Annual Symposium. Dr. Burchman received his "Advanced
Proficiency Certification" from the certification
committee. There are currently only 150 dental practitioners
worldwide with this "Advanced Proficiency Certification".
"Advanced Proficiency Certification" This level represents advanced knowledge and
clinical experience with the dental laser. Candidates must demonstrate
advanced knowledge of all laser wavelengths and clinical proficiency
using the dental laser. This level of education exceeds the standard
of care for the dental practitioner.
Certification General Information
A major objective of the Academy of
Laser Dentistry is to develop educational and clinical standards
in laser dentistry in order to help promote safe and effective
laser use on patients. Successful completion of the certification
program formally demonstrates advanced knowledge and clinical
proficiency in laser dentistry. The program is a structured educational
mechanism for dental practitioners wishing to achieve high standards
of dental laser care.

The Academy of Laser Dentistry held
its Seventh Annual Conference and Exhibition in Panama City Beach,
Florida, March 1- 4, 2000. The conference featured scientific
and clinical presentations in all major laser wavelengths for
general dentistry, aerodonetics, aesthetic dentistry, restorative
dentistry, implantology, endodontics, and oral surgery. Speakers
and attendees from the United States and around the world attended.
The Academy of Laser Dentistry is devoted
to dental laser education, research and the development of standards
and guidelines for the safe and effective use of dental laser
technology worldwide. Its members include top clinicians, academicians
and researchers in all laser wavelengths as well as commercial
manufacturers of lasers, laser accessories and high-tech products.
In his devotion to laser dentistry,
Dr. Burchman has just received his 3rd category 2 laser certification.
